For 5 years now….

About Series 9
The Public Relations Podcast

For 5 years, The Public Relations Podcast has been interviewing frontline comms pros about what they’re trying and what actually works. But from series nine we’ll be making some changes…..

What’s next and why

In the next few years, communications, whether human or AI, will make or break your business. It’s that simple.

Public trust in business has never been lower, brand blindness is a significant issue for most companies, and the public is more fickle than ever when choosing who to buy from, often based on personal recomendations.

Advertising can only take you so far, but “Human-style” marketing, communications, and PR can turn even small organisations into global ones that everyone talks about, without the cost.

It doesn’t matter if AI or a human delivers that. Human-style marketing works.

What is changing in the show

The show will continue to cater to PR, communications, and narrative marketing professionals, and it will now welcome anyone who understands the importance of communication and building relationships with the public.

You might be in marketing, a business owner, or a comms professional.

We want to discuss the ideas that make a difference, but we want to do more than that.

We want to have a direct impact on what you do. Yes, a direct impact, not just ideas, but an actual measurable impact on what you do.

How will we do it?

When you run a podcast for 5 years, you pick up a network of some of the best people in the world.

Remember, we don’t deal in thought leaders or people who only talk theory; our guests actually do it.

We have a network of individuals working with governments, businesses, AI platforms, and celebrities.

And we want to bring that resource to you.

How can you benefit from it?

All you have to do is to think of a question.

Perhaps it’s, “What challenge am I currently facing?”

Maybe it’s “My business isn’t growing?”

Maybe your existing marketing has backfired?

Maybe a former employee is damaging your reputation?

Once you know what your challenge is tell us privately.

We’ll then find an expert to answer it.

But we won’t stop there.

This isn’t theory for the sake of theory.

We’ll be following up and either anonymously if it’s sensitive, or publicly updating listeners on what happened.

But what if my question is too sensitive?

On this podcast, we’ve covered a wide range of topics, from what you might call “uncomfortable” PR issues to topics such as employees attacking their former firms, the vaping industry, and international business lobbying, all within the show.

We change names and details to ensure we tackle the problem, but with no chance of the issue being recognised, and we work with you to ensure it doesn’t.

As a first step, please reach out to us.

What if it is “super-sensitive”?

We trust all our guests. If you want to work with someone in our network, let us know too and we can refer you on.

What can I ask about?

Ask anything related to how your organisation relates to the public, your customers, or supporters, whether you are the marketing person or the owner.

Here are some examples:-

What question do you have?
  • Is your marketing struggling?
  • Have rivals in your sector started to undermine your reputation?
  • Do you need to create a better relationship with another country’s government?
  • Are you struggling to convince the CMO that they need to take comms seriously?
  • Are you trying to roll out AI comms tools to your team but don’t know which to use?
  • Are you struggling with pitches or pricing?
  • Problems or opportunities with agencies or in-house pros?
  • Your career
  • ….anything you can think of, as long as it’s to do with how organisations communicate with the public.
